If you worry about the appearance of your lower face and neck, the neck lift and lower facelift in Austin, TX, are the procedures for you. Sagging in these regions can make a major difference in terms of how young you look. With these surgical solutions, you can restore a youthful appearance.

What Is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift is a cosmetic procedure undertaken to sculpt and refine the neck. In this procedure, excess fat and skin are removed and sagging muscles are tightened, giving the neck a slender appearance.

The neck lift can be performed using any combination of three main techniques:

  • Cervicoplasty – Removal of extra skin
  • Platysmaplasty – Removal or alteration of neck muscles
  • Liposuction – Removal of stubborn fat

What Is a Lower Facelift?

A lower facelift is a variation on the traditional facelift that specifically focuses on the lower third of the face. It involves removal of excess skin and lifting of the underlying tissues to tighten the skin.

How to Prepare for These Procedures

Prior to surgery, you must have a detailed discussion with Dr. Aisha White about your expectations and the available options. Dr. White will thoroughly examine your face and take measurements. She may also take photographs for maintaining before and after records.

She will discuss the lower facelift and neck lift with you to determine which option is best to achieve your aesthetic goals. In many cases, these procedures are combined for comprehensive rejuvenation.

The final decision regarding the techniques used during your neck lift depends upon your requirements, expectations, and overall health. Dr. White may choose one method to deal with a turkey wattle neck and a completely different technique for excess fat problems. Liposuction is the most popular method used for a neck lift.

You will have to stop blood-thinning medications before surgery. You will also have to give up smoking one month prior to surgery.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. White that has improved my physical appearance but more importantly my self-esteem. Dr. White and her staff are the best and are extremely dedicated to the care of their patients. I would do it all over again in a heart beat. Amazing results and an amazing experience with a great compassionate doctor.

The Surgical Session

These procedures can be done under local or general anesthesia depending on your comfort level and health. They are usually outpatient procedures. In certain cases, you may require an overnight stay, but not more than that.

The procedures take several hours depending on the method used. Due to the anesthesia, you won’t feel any pain during the procedures. In the majority of cases, you can go home once you recover from the effects of anesthesia.

Recovery After a Neck Lift or Lower Facelift

Someone will need to drive you home and stay with you for some time after the surgery. You may have to wear a compression bandage for a short while. This bandage will help reduce swelling.

Your neck will feel tight for a few weeks, but this is completely normal. There will be some swelling and bruising, which will disappear in the following weeks. Keep your head in an elevated position while resting to aid in this process.

During your recovery period, you should avoid clothes that need to be pulled over your face and neck. Avoid smoking for a month after the procedure.

You will have to take 10 to 14 days off from work for recovery. You will have to wait for at least 3 weeks before taking part in any intense physical activity.

Necklift Procedure Results

The results of the neck lift and lower facelift are long-lasting. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle and avoid sun overexposure, you can maintain the results of your surgery for a long time.
